Fisk University is a private, historically black university (HBCU) located in Nashville, Tennessee. As previously mentioned, my knowledge is current up to September 2021, and some information may have changed since then.

1. History: Fisk University was founded in 1866, shortly after the end of the American Civil War, by the American Missionary Association and the Western Freedmen's Aid Commission. The institution was established to provide higher education opportunities for newly freed African American students. The university is named after General Clinton B. Fisk, a Union Army officer who provided significant support for the school's founding.
